English/Español: Rubio Statement on New U.S. Treasury Sanctions Targeting Nicolás Maduro’s Son
Miami, FL— U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued a statement after the U.S. Treasury Department announced new sanctions against Nicolás “Nicolásito” Ernesto Maduro Guerra, son of illegitimate Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro. Imposed pursuant to Executive Order 13692, the new U.S. sanctions target Nicolás Ernesto Maduro, a member of Venezuela’s illegitimate Constituent Assembly, for his involvement in the Maduro crime family and its malign efforts to undermine the country’s constitutional order, engage in significant corruption, and egregiously abusing the Venezuelan people’s human rights.
“The Treasury Department’s new sanctions today against Nicolásito Maduro underscore how the United States stands with the Venezuelan people and their legitimate Interim President Juan Guaidó,” Rubio said. “As dictator Nicolás Maduro and his corrupt inner circle run out of time and money, it’s long past due for Venezuelan military leaders and others on the sidelines to do the right thing and support the Venezuelan people’s efforts to restore their democracy and constitutional order.”
Rubio is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.
