English & Español: During Official Trip to Costa Rica, Rubio Meets with Government Officials to Discuss Regional Approach to Venezuela
San Jose, Costa Rica – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations’ Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues, traveled to the Republic of Costa Rica on Monday to meet with U.S. diplomats and senior Costa Rican government officials to discuss the crisis in Venezuela. He met with U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica Sharon Day, Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis and President-Elect Carlos Alvarado, among others.
“Costa Rica is an important regional leader in Central America and a great U.S. ally,” said Rubio. “I was pleased to travel to San Jose and meet with President Solis and President-elect Alvarado to thank them for their leadership in the Lima Group. It is vital that we continue working with our allies in the region to help restore democracy in Venezuela.”
In April, Rubio spoke on the Senate floor to outline actions the United States and its partners must take to hasten the emergence of a post-Maduro Venezuela and restore democracy to the country.

DURANTE VIAJE OFICIAL A COSTA RICA, RUBIO SE REÚNE CON OFICIALES GUBERNAMENTALES PARA DISCUTIR EL CAMINO REGIONAL CON RESPECTO A VENEZUELA
San José, Costa Rica – El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL), Presidente del Subcomité del Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Mundiales de la Mujer del Comité de Relaciones Exteriores del Senado, viajó a la República de Costa Rica el lunes para reunirse con diplomáticos de los Estados Unidos y con altos funcionarios del gobierno de Costa Rica para discutir la crisis en Venezuela. Rubio se reunió con la embajadora de los Estados Unidos en Costa Rica Sharon Day, el Presidente costarricense Luis Guillermo Solís y el presidente electo Carlos Alvarado, entre otros.
“Costa Rica es un importante líder regional en Centro América y un gran aliado de los Estados Unidos,” dijo Rubio. “Me complació viajar a San José y reunirme con el Presidente Solís y el Presidente Electo Alvarado para agradecerles por su liderazgo en el Grupo de Lima. Es vital que continuemos trabajando con nuestros aliados en la región para ayudar a restaurar la democracia en Venezuela.”
En abril, Rubio habló en el pleno del senado para detallar las acciones que los Estados Unidos y sus aliados deben emprender para acelerar el surgimiento de una Venezuela post-Maduro y la restauración de la democracia en el país.
