Rubio Comments On Obama’s Rejection Of Disaster Declaration For Florida’s Treasure Coast

Jul 16, 2016 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s rejection of Florida’s federal disaster declaration request to deal with the algae blooms along the state’s waterways:

“‎It’s unfortunate the president has deemed Florida’s Treasure Coast worthy enough to play golf in, but not important enough to help provide assistance to the Floridians dealing with the ongoing algae bloom crisis and poor water quality conditions. I’m deeply disappointed President Obama has rejected providing much-needed assistance to Florida’s Treasure Coast as it reels from this ongoing algae bloom crisis. This is an ill-advised decision on the president’s part, and he should reconsider and grant the disaster request.”
