On Wednesday, Senator Rubio sponsored four amendments and co-sponsored two amendments to legislation reauthorizing our nation’s transportation programs (or “to the transportation bill” or “to MAP-21, the transportation bill”).
Senator Rubio’s amendments were:

S.AMDT.1628, Evacuation Routes, requires each State to give adequate consideration to the needs of evacuation routes in the State when allocating funds for the construction of highways.

S.AMDT.1629, Prohibition on Funding requires that none of the funds made available under this bill can be used to build and put up signs indicating that a project is funded under this bill.

S.AMDT.1658, Streamlining Transportation Projects, allows the Secretary of Transportation to designate one transportation agency as the lead agency for multimodal transportation projects for the purposes of project reviews, authorizations, and funding, so the project’s sponsor does not have to deal with multiple federal agencies.

S.AMDT.1659, Project Justification and Transparency, requires the Secretary of Transportation to explain why projects were selected under the Projects of National and Regional Significance program, a new $1 billion program for large transportation infrastructure projects created under this bill.
