Sen. Rubio: Congress Needs To Ensure Military Servicemembers Receive Pay

Apr 8, 2011 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio today issued the following statement on his support for and co-sponsorship of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s (R-TX) Ensuring Pay for Our Military Act, which will guarantee that our military men and women are paid in the event of a government shutdown:

“While Congress and the White House deliberate to prevent a government shutdown, it is critical that we ensure that our Armed Forces and the civilians who support them continue to receive the pay they deserve. Our servicemembers and their families make daily sacrifices for their country, and Congress should act now to honor those sacrifices by either passing the troop-funding legislation that came out of the House yesterday or Senator Hutchison’s stand-alone bill. At a time when our leaders in Washington seem more concerned about talking points and political posturing, these policies offer a much-needed dose of common sense and should be passed immediately.”
