Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement after the State Department certified, as required under Section 40A(a) of the Arms Export Control Act, those nations that are not fully cooperating with American counterterrorism efforts: 
 
“The State Department’s recent certification of nations that are not fully cooperating with America’s counterterrorism efforts reiterates the threat posed by rogue regimes worldwide,” Rubio said. “In our own hemisphere, the Cuban and Venezuelan dictatorships continue playing a destabilizing role. As this report shows, the illegitimate regime of Nicolás Maduro continues to welcome terrorists such as the ELN and FARC- dissidents within Venezuela’s borders. These State Department-recognized foreign terrorist organizations enrich the Maduro crime family and threaten our regional allies and U.S. national security interests in the Hemisphere. It is past time for Venezuela to be listed as an official State Sponsor of Terrorism and I urge the administration to do so.”
 
Rubio is Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.

 
RUBIO COMENTA SOBRE LA CERTIFICACIÓN DEL DEPARTAMENTO DE ESTADO DE PAÍSES QUE NO COOPERAN EN ESFUERZOS DE CONTRATERRORISMO DE EE.UU.
 

Washington, D.C. — El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) emitió el siguiente comunicado después que el Departamento de Estado certificó bajo la Sección 40A (a) de la ley de Control de Exportación de Armas la lista de países que no están cooperando con los esfuerzos antiterroristas de EE.UU.: 
 
“La reciente certificación del Departamento de Estado de los países que no están cooperando con los esfuerzos antiterroristas de EE.UU. reiteran la amenaza que representan los regímenes corruptos por el mundo”, Rubio dijo. “En nuestro propio hemisferio, las dictaduras de Cuba y Venezuela siguen desempeñando un rol desestabilizador. Como muestra este informe, el régimen ilegítimo de Nicolás Maduro continúa acogiendo a terroristas como el ELN y los disidentes de las FARC dentro de sus fronteras. Estas organizaciones terroristas reconocidas por el Departamento de Estado enriquecen a la narco-dictadura de Maduro y amenazan a nuestros aliados regionales y a los intereses de seguridad nacional de EE.UU. en el hemisferio. Ya es hora que Venezuela sea incluido en la lista como Patrocinador del Terrorismo e insto a la Administración a que lo haga”.
 
Rubio es el presidente del Subcomité de Relaciones Exteriores para el Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Globales de la Mujer.
