Rubio Statement on Iran’s Secret Atomic Archive

May 1, 2018 | Press Releases

San Jose, Costa Rica – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued a statement after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed that his government had obtained Iran’s secret Atomic Archive, a collection of over 55,000 documents and other materials that show the Iranian regime’s vast covert efforts to develop nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, and after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo subsequently stated that “[w]e assess that the documents we have reviewed are authentic.”

“These documents appear to reveal the scope and scale of the Iranian government’s secret efforts to master nuclear weaponization, and underscore that the regime continues to lie about its ultimate nuclear ambitions to the Iranian people, the United States, and the world,” said Rubio.  “The American people deserve better than a bad deal that paves the way for the Iranian regime to eventually get nuclear weapons.  And the Iranian people deserve better as they continue to suffer greatly due to the Iranian regime’s criminal corruption, massive economic mismanagement, support for terrorists and the Assad regime, ballistic missile aggression, and systemic human rights abuses.”
