Rubio Application Process For Service Academy Nominations Closes In One Week

Sep 2, 2015 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – As high school seniors settle into a new school year, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is reminding Florida students who wish to be nominated for fall 2016 admission to a service academy to apply using the process outlined on his website by September 9, 2015. The four service academies requiring a congressional nomination include the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

In addition to securing a congressional nomination, candidates must also apply directly through the admissions process of their service academies of choice. Each Member of Congress is allowed a limited number of nominations per academy.

“It is my honor to nominate young men and women throughout Florida who exhibit the necessary leadership, commitment and integrity required to pursue the top military training our nation has to offer,” said Rubio. “I welcome all interested students to apply, and I wish applicants the best of luck as they go through the admission process to our service academies.”

In addition to applying to their two U.S. senators, applicants are also encouraged to apply with their U.S. representative. To confirm one’s congressional district, visit http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/.
