Rubio Sponsors Legislation To Rename Veterans Affairs Medical Center Honoring Rep. C.W. Bill Young
Washington, D.C. – Today U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced legislation to rename the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical center in Bay Pines, FL as the “C.W. Bill Young Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center” in honor of Congressman Bill Young, who passed away last Friday at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.
“Floridians and our nation’s veterans have known no better public servant than Congressman Bill Young. It is only appropriate that this facility, which cares for so many Pinellas County veterans and their families, bears the name of Bill Young who worked for decades in Congress to see that the VA and veterans’ medical care was properly funded. Naming this important facility in Congressman Young’s memory is one small way we can pay tribute to Bill’s unparalleled record of service to our military service members and veterans.”
A companion resolution was introduced in the House by Representative Jeff Miller (R-FL). Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) is a co-sponsor.
