Rubio Statement on Ortega Regime’s Violent Crackdown on Civilian Protests
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement after the Ortega regime in Nicaragua violently cracked down on civilian protests over the past week:
“I support the Nicaraguan people as they exercise their right to speak freely in the face of an increasingly authoritarian government. The murderous violence unleashed by the Ortega regime is yet another tragic reminder of how tyrants always resort to suppression and human rights abuses when challenged. The democracies of the region and the world should denounce these criminal acts and clearly support the rights of the Nicaraguan people.”
