On One Year Anniversary of Hurricane Irma, Rubio Discusses Recovery Efforts & Hurricane Preparedness with Local Officials in Florida Keys
Marathon, FL – One year after Hurricane Irma devastated the Florida Keys, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), joined by Speaker Pro Tempore of the Florida House of Representatives Jeanette M. Nuñez (R-Miami), visited Monroe County to discuss continued recovery efforts and future hurricane preparedness with local officials.
“Today I met with local officials in Monroe County to discuss continued recovery efforts following Hurricane Irma, including economic recovery needs and canal debris removal,” Rubio said. “I’m pleased with the progress, but there is more work to be done. As our state continues to recover from the storm, I’m working in Congress to ensure the safety and recovery of communities grappling with hurricane-related hardship. With another hurricane season underway, I’m committed to making sure communities are equipped with the resources they need so that the faults of last season are not repeated. The work of our communities is vital in these efforts, and I remain committed to ensuring that the Keys receives the funding it needs to continue to rebuild.”
