Rubio Applauds HUD Approval of $616 Million Disaster Relief Package for Florida
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement after Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson today approved a $616 million hurricane disaster recovery plan for Florida:
“I applaud Secretary Carson for approving Governor Scott’s proposed disaster relief plan to help Floridians recover from Hurricane Irma’s destruction. Nine months have passed since Hurricane Irma made landfall in Florida, but many of the state’s local governments, small businesses, and homeowners are still grappling with hurricane-related hardships. This $616 million that I helped secure in February as a member of the Appropriations Committee will address several housing and economic development recovery needs throughout Florida, including funds to build affordable housing in the Keys, technical assistance for displaced Puerto Rican business owners, and direct grants to low-income business owners and homeowners who suffered damages from the storm.”
