Rubio, Nelson Resolution Honoring Khobar Towers Victims Passes Senate

Jun 24, 2016 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – Ahead of the 20th anniversary of the Khobar Towers terrorist bombing, U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) released the following statements after yesterday’s passage of a resolution they cosponsored honoring its victims.

“As we approach the 20th anniversary of the Khobar Towers terrorist bombing, we remember the 19 U.S. Air Force personnel who lost their lives defending our country,” said Rubio. “As most of the victims of the attack were Florida based airmen, Senator Nelson and I are proud to see our resolution pass the Senate to fully honor those brave men who represented our home state. We will never forget their great sacrifice to our nation, and they will forever live on in our hearts.”

“It’s been 20 years since terrorists attacked a housing complex in Saudi Arabia known as Khobar Towers,” said Nelson. “We will never forget the 19 U.S. airmen we lost that day – most of whom were from Florida – and the sacrifice they made for our country. Their service, and that of all the men and women of our nation’s armed forces, must never be forgotten.”
