May 9, 2017 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement today regarding the result of South Korea’s presidential election:

“I congratulate Moon Jae-in on his election as the Republic of Korea’s next president. America’s relationship with South Korea is strong, and rooted in our shared democratic values, security cooperation, vibrant economic ties, and commitment to the rule of law. The United States and South Korea will continue working together to address the growing threats posed by North Korea and other serious challenges in the region. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the South Korean people, and no one should doubt the enduring strength and resolve of the U.S.-South Korean alliance. I look forward to working to deepen our bilateral relationship.”
