Washington, D.C.— U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement after he joined Senate colleagues in meeting with Vice-President Pence, Venezuelan Interim President Juan Guaidó, and Venezuelan Ambassador to the U.S., Carlos Vecchio:

“Following yesterday’s historic moment at the State of the Union, I was honored to meet with the legitimate Interim President of Venezuela Juan Guaidó in Washington, D.C. The Trump administration deserves tremendous credit for its leadership supporting the Guaidó administration. As we continue to assist Venezuela’s path to democratic order, we must prioritize efforts that will help the nation prosper in a Venezuela liberated from the evils of Maduro’s narco-dictatorship, such as my co-led bipartisan VERDAD ACT.”

Rubio is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.

Washington, D.C. — El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) emitió el siguiente comunicado tras haberse reunido junto a sus colegas del senado con el vicepresidente Pence, el presidente interino de Venezuela Juan Guaidó, y el embajador de Venezuela ante los Estado Unidos Carlos Vecchio: 

“Tras el histórico momento de ayer durante el discurso del estado de la unión, tuve el honor de reunirme una vez más con el presidente legítimo e interino de Venezuela, Juan Guaidó en Washington D.C.. La administración Trump merece gran crédito por su liderazgo y su apoyo firme a la administración de Guaidó. A medida que continuamos ayudando al camino de la restauración del orden democrático en Venezuela, debemos priorizar los esfuerzos que ayudarán al país a prosperar en una Venezuela libre de los males de la narco-dictadura de Maduro, como los hace la ley bipartidista de mi co-autoría el VERDAD ACT”.     

Rubio es el presidente del Subcomité de Relaciones Exteriores para el Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Globales de la Mujer.
