Rubio: DHS Must Do More to Fully Implement UFLPA

May 16, 2024 | Comunicados de Prensa

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced 26 additions to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List. While this is welcomed news, the Biden Administration has yet to include exporters who are tainting the United States’ supply chain with the forced labor of Uyghurs and others in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) as well as other regions.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), author of the bipartisan Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, released a statement urging the Biden Administration to add more companies to the UFLPA Entity List.

  • “While the inclusion of these entities is long overdue, it’s concerning that the Biden Administration has once again failed to include exporters who are complicit in slave labor practices. At a time when companies continue to enrich themselves from forced labor, DHS must prioritize including entities who are sending slave-made products into the U.S.” – senador Rubio

Flashback… In September 2023, Rubio issued a statement following DHS’s announcement that it was adding three entities to the UFLPA Entity List.
