Rubio Slams Democrat Bill: “There Isn’t a Single Thing That Helps Working People”
The Democrats’ $749 billion climate and tax bill passed the Senate on a party-line vote. Democrats repeatedly rejected common sense amendments to lower energy prices, protect our communities, and bring good jobs back to America.
In a speech on the Senate floor, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) said the bill doesn’t address the real concerns of Americans.
- “There isn’t a single thing in this bill that helps working people lower the price of groceries, or the price of gasoline, or the price of housing, or the price of clothes. There isn’t a single thing in this bill that is going to keep criminals in jail. There isn’t a single thing in this bill that is going to secure our border. And those happen to be the things working people in this country care about.” — Senator Rubio
Senate Democrats rejected two Rubio amendments: 1) increasing funding for police to keep violent criminals behind bars; and 2) clarifying, for the purposes of maternal and infant-related program resources, that only women can be pregnant.
Rubio slammed the bill in a Fox News op-ed earlier in the week.
