Rubio Backs Two Measures To Block EPA’s Clean Power Plan
Washington, D.C. – Following the release of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) final Clean Power Plan (CPP), U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today co-sponsored two Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions aimed at protecting Florida families from higher energy taxes that will result in higher electricity bills.
“We need policies that are good for our natural environment, but also good for our economy,” said Rubio. “The Obama Administration’s Clean Power Plan would devastate our economy and increase the cost of living for millions of American families already struggling with high bills and expenses. In Florida alone, these irresponsible regulations could raise individual electric bills significantly.”
“I’m proud to join this bipartisan effort that attempts to stop yet another EPA overreach from threatening the economic security of Floridians,” Rubio added. “Eventually, I hope we can put a stop to the CPP once and for all.”
The first resolution, S.J.Res. 23, introduced by Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), would block the CPP regulations for new and modified power sources, and the second, S.J.Res.24, introduced by Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), would block the CPP regulations for existing power sources.
