Rubio Deploys Staff to Puerto Rico to Aid in Recovery Efforts
San Juan, Puerto Rico – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today deployed four staff members to Puerto Rico, where they will work with federal and local officials to assist with recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria.
Rubio visitó the island on Monday, and last night warned on the Senate floor that Puerto Rico is a growing humanitarian crisis. Last week, Rubio’s staff hosted hurricane recovery centers across Florida to help victims of Hurricane Irma.
“I’ve visited the island and seen firsthand the damage inflicted, and it is my hope that we can bring as much relief as possible for Puerto Ricans who are suffering from the storm,” said Rubio. “The situation in Puerto Rico is a growing humanitarian crisis. We cannot afford to sit idly by while over three million Americans on the island endure unimaginable hardship. My office and I will do everything in our power to help Puerto Rico receive the assistance they need.”
