ICYMI: Rubio Joins Fox and Friends

Jul 24, 2024 | Comunicados de Prensa

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) joined Fox & Friends to discuss the Secret Service’s failure to protect President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris’s record. See below for highlights and watch the full interview on YouTube y Rumble.

On the Secret Service’s failure to protect President Donald Trump from an assassination attempt:

“It’s a massive failure. A sniper from a rooftop is a known vulnerability in general. It’s a vulnerability of these outside rallies that was known to the Secret Service, that was known to law enforcement agencies. The problem is, if you’re not providing them enough personnel, they have to outsource the perimeter. The less people they have, the more they have to outsource to local law enforcement.

“I also think it’s stunning that…the Republican nominee [for president], a former president, and someone we know, is being targeted by a foreign government for assassination.

“I think it’s amazing that the way [Secret Service] were communicating with each other is taking pictures on a cell phone and distributing them to some sort of text messaging group. That’s the way we are communicating instead of in real time. This was a massive systemic failure, and we are lucky that the person who took this shot, the shooter, was not some professionally trained assassin. If he had been, we would have had a very different, much more tragic outcome….

“Outdoor rallies, in general, are difficult to secure. No doubt about it. But that requires additional personnel. I just don’t think the known threat and the level of security that was provided were matched. They did not match one another. This was a big systemic failure, and someone needs to be held responsible for it, and it can never happen again.”

On Vice President Kamala Harris’s record:

“She is a product of the left wing of the Democratic Party. Whether it’s getting rid of [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement], defunding the police, [or enacting] single-payer health care—I know she changed her positions when she became the vice presidential nominee, but these are the things she fought for and stood for and voted for when she was a senator.”
