PENSACOLA — Senator Marco Rubio came to Pensacola today, to talk with local business leaders about the Affordable Care Act.
The [R]epublican senator is pushing to defund the health care law and he’s been getting input from businesses throughout Northwest Florida over the past few days.

David Apple, Owner, Apple Market: “This legislation is the reason most business growth and job creation is stalled right now.”
Senator Rubio heard from David Apple, the owner of Apple Market as well as representatives from Sacred Heart Health Systems, Navy Federal and Nowak Enterprises among others.
Peter Nowak, CEO, Nowak Enterprises: “We own six McDonald’s restaurants in the Pensacola area.”
The business leaders each talked about their concerns regarding the implementation of the law. Some said their health care costs are going to skyrocket.
Peter Nowak, CEO, Nowak Enterprises: “It is gonna have to raise costs. There’s no way to pay for this unless it’s going to raise costs. How are customers going to react to those costs? How will it affect menu strategies, how will it affect the price of the things we sell. It’s gonna have to go up.”

“I think we should fund the government. I just don’t think we should fund ObamaCare [, said Rubio.]”
Senator Rubio wants to do everything he can to stop it.
Sen Marco Rubio, (R) Florida: “We have got to get rid of this law [or] at a minimum to suspend its implementation because it’s hurting people so badly. And so for us I think the last option we’re gonna have, the last best chance to do something about it is during the short term budget debate in September.”
