“What the White House decided to do today was welcome news. But Congress still needs to act because what they’re doing, while very humane, violates something called the ‘Flores Settlement,’ which means someone’s going to take this to court and they’re going to get it thrown out. So we have introduced a bill today that basically allows people who unlawfully entered to be held together with their children. And we also add new judges so that we can expedite the hearing they’re entitled to, and dispose of their case either by sending them back together as a family or admitting them into the country as a family. We have to act and I hope we can pass that law.”

Washington, DC – El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) dio a conocer hoy la siguiente declaración en video después de que él, y sus colegas republicanos, presentaran la ley Manteniendo a las Familias Unidas y Cumpliendo la Ley, que garantizaría la integridad de las leyes de inmigración de nuestro país al exigir que los niños y sus padres permanezcan juntos durante sus procedimientos legales. “Lo que decidió el Presidente hoy es algo bueno. Pero desafortunadamente viola una cosa que se llama el “Settlement Flores” que es un juramento que hizo la corte y desafortunadamente alguien va a llevar esto a la corte y va a ganar. Por eso es que el Congreso todavía tiene que actuar pasando una ley que elimina la ley Flores o el arreglo Flores. Y así asegurarnos que en el futuro personas que entran ilegalmente puedan ser detenidos junto a sus familias y también agregar nuevos jueces para que puedan tener su audiencia delante de un juez rápido y puedan o quedarse o regresarse a su país de origen junto como una familia”.
