Rubio Applauds Passage of Legislation Improving Bankruptcy Court System in Florida
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) applauded the Senate’s passage of the Bankruptcy Judgeship Act, bipartisan legislation that extends for five years two temporary bankruptcy judgeships for the Southern District of Florida and authorizes a new temporary bankruptcy judgeship for the Middle District of Florida. The legislation now heads to the president’s desk to be signed into law.
“This legislation will help ensure more manageable caseloads and a more efficient bankruptcy court system, so people in Florida can get more timely access to the courts and the administration of justice,” said Rubio. “I’m glad we were able to get this bill passed and I look forward to the president signing it into law.”
The legislation authorizes or extends additional temporary bankruptcy judgeships throughout the country, including Puerto Rico. Rubio and Senators Bill Nelson (D-FL), Chris Coons (D-DE) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) introduced the legislation in March.
