Rubio Comments On New Cuba Regulations

Sep 18, 2015 | Comunicados de Prensa

Washington, D.C.– U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights and Global Women’s Issues, today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Treasury and Department of Commerce regulation changes toward Cuba:

“President Obama’s eagerness to please the Castro regime knows no bounds, as he keeps offering one-sided concessions that will strengthen the brutal dictatorship at the expense of the Cuban people. As President Obama keeps giving away one-sided concessions, the Castro regime has only responded with record levels of repression that has led more Cubans to desperately flee the island and undermined the cause of a free Cuba.

“The Obama policy of pouring more American money into the Castro regime’s coffers won’t make America safer or the Cuban people freer. Not only do these measures harm the cause of a free Cuba, they also raise serious questions about the legality of the Obama Administration’s regulations.”
