Rubio, Graham, Colleagues, Welcome House Action to Sanction ICC

Jun 5, 2024 | Comunicados de Prensa

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has politically targeted Israel for rightfully defending itself after the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attacks. This political persecution against the Jewish State of Israel must come to an end.

U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and colleagues issued a joint statement supporting passage of the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act. Rubio is a cosponsor of the Senate companion bill, which, if enacted, would sanction the ICC for their political targeting of Israel.

  • “We are very pleased Speaker Johnson moved forward with sanctions against the International Criminal Court for the outrageous actions against the State of Israel.
  • “This measure received bipartisan support in the House and we urge Senate Democratic Leader Schumer to immediately bring this legislation to the floor for a vote in the Senate.
  • “We support the House of Representative’s proposal because without strong action now, it is our opinion that the ICC will eventually come after U.S. personnel.
  • “It is Israel today and the United States tomorrow. We must stand firmly against the ICC in order to protect our own forces in future conflicts.”

Senators Jim Risch (R-ID), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Susan Collins (R-ME) joined the statement.

Retrospectiva... In May, Rubio alongside Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released a joint statement condemning the ICC’s shameful political decision to seek out arrests against Israeli officials.
