Rubio To Protect Health Of Pregnant Students

Aug 2, 2022 | Comunicados de Prensa

Even after the Dobbs decision, radical Democrats and the media continue to push the idea that abortion is the only viable option for pregnant mothers in difficult circumstances. That is particularly true on college campuses, which is why U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced the Pregnant Students Rights Act in May.

Rubio will submit the Pregnant Students Rights Act as an amendment to the Democrats’ $749 billion climate and tax bill to further protect the rights of pregnant students and their babies on college campuses. Specifically, the amendment would strengthen existing requirements for higher education institutions to publicly disclose the resources and rights available for pregnant and parenting students.

  • “Pregnant college women should never feel like abortion is their only option. Even if we disagree on abortion, we should at least be able to agree that young women should never feel marginalized for choosing life. It is just common sense to ensure colleges are following the law.” — Senator Rubio

Senators Mike Rounds (R-SD), Mike Braun (R-IN), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Tim Scott (R-SC), and Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) are cosponsors of the Rubio bill, and Representative Ashley Hinson (R-IA) introduced companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The bill has been endorsed by the Susan B. Anthony List, Family Research Council, Students for Life Action, Feminists for Life, and the U.S. Conference for Catholic Bishops.

Looking forward … Rubio will submit an amendment to the reconciliation bill to protect pregnant college students and their babies.
