Senator Marco Rubio Names Cesar Conda As Chief Of Staff

Feb 4, 2011 | Comunicados de Prensa

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio announced today that veteran policy advisor Cesar Conda will serve as Chief of Staff in his Senate office. Conda previously worked with Senator Rubio as a policy advisor on his 2010 Senate campaign and his Senate Transition.

“After a long and exhaustive search, I am pleased to announce that Cesar Conda has agreed to come on board as my Chief of Staff. During the campaign, Cesar was a valued policy advisor and as we transitioned into the Senate, his counsel was fundamental in putting together our staff and ensuring that our offices in Washington and throughout Florida were open on Day One. Cesar brings a wealth of policy, legislative, political and management experience that will greatly aid our office’s mission of serving the people of Florida,” said Senator Rubio.

Conda brings over 25 years of experience to Senator Rubio’s office. He has previously worked in the White House as Assistant to the Vice President for Domestic Policy and as a senior staffer on Capitol Hill in the 1980s and 1990s. In the Senate, Conda served as Senator Spencer Abraham’s (R-MI) Legislative Director and as Minority Staff Director of the Senate Small Business Committee under Senator Robert Kasten (R-WI). He has advised several presidential campaigns including the 1996 Dole-Kemp presidential campaign and the 2008 Mitt Romney for President campaign. He was also an economic analyst at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to work with Senator Rubio as he pursues conservative alternatives to the policies coming out of Washington that are taking our country in the wrong direction,” said Conda. “From Day One, Senator Rubio’s staff has been working throughout Florida on behalf of all Floridians and I look forward to joining this incredible team.”

Biography Of Cesar Conda:

Cesar Conda is a leading conservative policy advisor and has extensive experience on Capitol Hill and at the White House. From 2001 to 2003, he was Assistant to the Vice President for Domestic Policy. According to columnist Robert Novak, Conda “as Vice President Dick Cheney’s domestic policy chief was instrumental in devising the Bush tax cuts.” Conda spent most of his professional career in the 1980s and 1990s as a senior staffer in the U.S. Senate, including Administrative Assistant and Legislative Director to former Senator Spencer Abraham (R-MI), where he led a Senate staff that assisted Abraham in authoring 22 pieces of legislation signed into law — an unprecedented accomplishment for a freshman Senator. He was also Minority Staff Director of the Senate Small Business Committee and Legislative Assistant to former Senator Robert Kasten (R-WI). Additionally, Conda was a policy advisor to the 1996 Dole-Kemp Presidential Campaign and Senior Economic Policy Advisor to the 2008 Mitt Romney for President Campaign. He was also an economic analyst at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Roll Call, a leading Capitol Hill publication, included Conda in its “Fabulous Fifty” list of top congressional aides. In 1999, he received the “Congressional Staffer of the Year Award” from the Information Technology Industry Council. Conda was a member of the Board of Directors of Empower America and the National Fatherhood Initiative. Before joining Senator Rubio’s staff, Conda was a Founding Principal of Navigators Global LLC, a public affairs firm.

Conda was also Co-Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Susan. B. Anthony List. Conda earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from The College of William and Mary in Virginia.
