Senator Rubio Mourns the Passing of Neil Armstrong

Aug 25, 2012 | Comunicados de Prensa

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio today issued the following statement regarding the death of former astronaut Neil Armstrong:

“Forty-three years ago, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Mike Collins left their indelible footprints on the moon’s surface and human history. Neil Armstrong’s first steps and words on the moon inspired countless people all over the world to dream big, and his legacy is evident to this day at Kennedy Space Center and in space missions like the current exploration of Mars. I mourn his passing and hope his family finds some comfort in the memory of a man who lived an extraordinary life that inspired so many people.

“America, the space community and the entire world have lost a courageous pioneer. One needs to look no further than the various foreign currencies in the donation box at Washington’s National Air and Space Museum to understand what our space program means not only for our country but for all of humanity. Neil Armstrong and his fellow astronauts helped make that dream possible, and today we honor the life, courage and legacy of this great man.”
