Veterans Day
While we continue to enjoy the many freedoms this great country has to offer, let us remember that freedom is not free. It requires constant vigilance and sacrifice in its defense. And so this Monday, we honor those men and women who have selflessly and courageously served in our armed forces.
Every year our nation pauses to recognize Veterans Day and the millions of service members who have risked their lives defending this country and the principles upon which it was founded. It is an honor to have more than 1.5 million veterans call Florida their home. As they join other Americans at parades throughout the long weekend, we thank them for making Florida their home, all the while, making our state a better place to live.
Throughout the course of America’s history, our armed forces have forged through danger – battling oppression and defending democracy – so that we may continue to live in peace. While their steadfast spirit and resounding leadership leaves us all humbled, it is their sacrifice that ensures this great nation remains a land of opportunity.
We are eternally grateful for their service, as well as the support and sacrifices of their families. The unwavering strength of military families is inspiring to us all, and today we proudly honor them. We pray that our troops actively serving, both domestically and abroad, return safely to the arms of their loved ones. And when their service is up and they return home, it is our responsibility to ensure that an abundance of job opportunities are waiting for them.
These service men and women are not just heroes, they are our heroes. It is because of their endless valor that America will forever be the land of the free, and home of the brave. So let us remember our veterans, their families and those actively serving – not just on Veterans Day, but every day.
May God bless our troops, and may God bless America.
