Following Rubio Request, DOJ Reimburses Florida Law Enforcement for Parkland Response

Apr 23, 2018 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today applauded the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) announcement that it has awarded $1 million to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to reimburse state and local law enforcement for costs incurred in the wake of the Parkland school shooting. The award comes following Rubio’s bipartisan request in February.

“I applaud the award of these federal funds to the FDLE. Countless first responders worked tirelessly to process the crime scene and tend to victims in the aftermath of the Parkland tragedy, putting a great strain on state and local resources. We are truly grateful for their selfless efforts. As our state and the Parkland community continue to heal from this terrible tragedy, I remain committed to assisting our first responders in reinstating a sense of security for Floridians.”
