ICYMI: Rubio & Hannity Agree That Broken Immigration System Is Bad For America

Senator Marco Rubio: “It’s an important issue. It has to be solved. And I ran for office because I want to make a difference and I want to fix things that are hurting the country, and I think what we have now with immigration hurts America. So I think we have to modernize our legal immigration system, we have to have real enforcement mechanisms that work that enforce the law and we’ve got to deal with the 11 million people who are here illegally. And that’s what I’m trying to do, that’s the only thing I’m trying to do and it’s hard work but it’s important for the country that we get it right.”
…
Sean Hannity: “Well first, I got to give you a lot of credit. There’s a lot of thought that’s gone into this on your part and I know how hard you’ve been working on it and I know it’s very difficult to navigate anything through the Senate. We see that the President can’t even get one Democrat to vote for his own budget bill. And I also have a fear, Senator. The reason I have a sense of urgency and would like to get the border secure, and the visa situation secure too, is because I just think we’re living through the rise of radical jihadists. And I think the softer targets like what we saw at the Boston Marathon may become more frequent and we pretty much got an open door in this country and that creates a vulnerability that I’m not comfortable with.”
…
Rubio: “I owe so much to the United States. Honestly, I wake up every day and I realize that I’ve had opportunities I never would have had, had my parents not been given the ability to come here. And I just feel like I want to pay the country back for all it has meant to me and to my family, and I see something that is hurting America. This illegal immigration problem, this broken legal immigration system, I want to fix it, and I don’t want to leave it the way it is because it is bad for us. And all I am trying to do is figure out how to fix it.”
Hannity: “That is why you are loved as much as you are. For what you just said. Alright, thank you Senator Rubio, appreciate it.”
Rubio: “Thanks Sean for having me. Thank you.”
