MEDIA ADVISORY: Rubio, Colleagues To Unveil Legislation Curbing Sexual Assaults On Campuses

Jul 28, 2014 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday, July 30, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) will be among a bipartisan group of senators holding a press conference to announce the introduction of legislation to curb sexual assaults on college and university campuses.

Rubio will be joined by Senators Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Dean Heller (R-NV), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), among others. Victims and advocates will join the lawmakers for Wednesday’s introduction.

The Senators have been working together for months to examine federal, state, and local policies; collect feedback from stakeholders; and craft bipartisan legislation to better protect and empower students, and hold both perpetrators and institutions accountable.

Details of the legislation will be available at the press conference, where the Senators will be available to answer questions on the bill.
