Photos: Rubio Speaks At Veterans Events
Orlando, FL — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) spoke at the Veteran of Foreign Wars annual convention and the American Legion’s annual convention.
“Today, Americans spend a lot of time thinking about politics,” Rubio said. “But if you asked people around the world what America means to them, they wouldn’t point to politicians. They’d point to the men and women in uniform who saved the world from Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, who defended free nations from the onslaught of communism, and who gave their lives in the fight against radical Islamic terrorists.”
“Our nation’s veterans,” Rubio continued, “are the reason why, despite all its flaws, America continues to be a source of inspiration and hope across the globe. The people of this country and the world are forever in their debt.”
Yesterday, the Senate passed the Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2021 (H.R. 3967), which includes key provisions from Rubio’s Presumptive Benefits for War Fighters Exposed to Burn Pits and Other Toxins Act (S. 952), which he introduced with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) last year. Specifically, the bill creates a presumption of service connection for more than 20 categories of diseases and streamlines the process for veterans to obtain benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
