Report: Owner Of Stonybrook Apartments Fined For Code Violations

RIVIERA BEACH — City officials have fined the owners of the Stonybrook Apartments $15,000 for code violations, WPTV NewsChannel 5 reports.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., on May 24 called for a federal investigation into the owners of the housing complex, prior to a member of his staff touring the neighborhood Tuesday, according to WPTV.

Stonybrook, a federally subsidized, 215-apartment complex off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard west of Congress Avenue, was acquired by the Global Ministries Foundation in 2012.

Conditions at Stonybrook have been the subject of previous controversy, with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2012 ordering the complex’s previous property management company, Miami Mar, to fix issues, including an infestation of rodents and other pests, leaking roofs and faulty smoke alarms.
