Rubio Applauds Trump Administration’s Action to Expand Health Savings Account Benefits for Individuals Suffering from Chronic Conditions

Jul 17, 2019 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) applauded the Trump administration’s action to expand preventive care benefits that may be provided by high deductible health plans (HDHPs) for a range of chronic conditions. In January, Rubio introduced the Health Savings Act of 2019, which would simplify and expand Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), health care accounts that provide Americans opportunities to save for medical costs through tax-deductible contributions.

“Today’s action by the Trump administration to finally allow Americans suffering from certain chronic conditions, including diabetes and heart disease, access to affordable health benefits to treat these chronic conditions and still have access to a Health Savings Account,” Rubio said. “To build upon this effort, Congress should pass my Health Savings Act of 2019 (S.12), which would simplify and further expand Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts so that Americans can more affordably access health care services that are best for their individual needs.”
