Rubio: Biden Cannot Claim to Stand with Ukraine if he Doesn’t Hold Chinese Entities Accountable
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued a statement after the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned multiple international entities and individuals linked to the Kremlin, including entities in allied countries, but refrained from sanctioning any of the Chinese companies providing dual-use goods to Russia.
To date, the Biden Administration has sanctioned only one Chinese company. Publicly available customs data shows that Russia has imported hundreds of millions of dollars-worth of drone components, body armor, thermal imaging devices, and fighter jet parts from China in 2023 alone.
- “These sanctions are long overdue. Anyone providing dual-use goods to Russia is fueling Putin’s war against Ukraine. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration gave a free pass to Putin’s most generous supporter: the Chinese Communist Party. President Biden cannot claim to stand with Ukraine if he is not willing to punish the Chinese entities and individuals helping to support Putin’s unjustified war.”
