Rubio, Graham, Colleagues Warn Against Terrorist Infiltration Of Southern Border
The crisis at the southern border is a result of President Joe Biden’s unwillingness to control illegal immigration. With migrant encounters at a record high including at least 56 individuals apprehended at the southern border in the last nine months that were on the Terrorist Screening Database. America’s borders are dangerously exposed to terrorists groups, including al-Qaeda.
U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Thom Tillis (R-NC) wrote to U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warning against terrorist infiltration of the southern border and urging him to correct course:
- “We have lost complete operational control of the southern border, and it serves as a calling card for terrorists everywhere.
- “It is clear from the recent strike [against Ayman al-Zawahiri] that al-Qaeda is out in the open, and welcomed by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
- “If the administration continues to stand by idly, over time, the biggest beneficiary of [the border crisis] will be international terrorist groups like al-Qaeda.”
