Rubio Mourns the Passing of American Hero John Glenn
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement today regarding the passing of former U.S. Senator John Glenn (D-OH):
“As the first American to orbit Earth in 1962, John Glenn was a true pioneer and American hero who led the way with the Mercury Seven astronauts in launching a new era of American space exploration. He was also a devoted patriot, military veteran and statesman, and we are extremely grateful for this service to our country. He may have hailed from Ohio, but Florida will always be proud of this legend’s role in our space program and his history-making launch from Cape Canaveral. Although our time in the U.S. Senate did not overlap, I wish I had had the opportunity to serve with him. As we mourn his passing today, Jeanette and I offer our condolences and prayers to the Glenn family.”
