Rubio to Introduce Bill Fixing Foreign Donation Loophole Exploited by ActBlue
Nearly every online transaction requires a customer verification value (CVV) as a form of cardholder verification. This simple requirement is standard practice across the e-commerce industry to reduce fraud and prevent unlawful foreign transactions.
Shockingly, Democrat online fundraising platform ActBlue, which raises billions of dollars for progressive candidates and woke causes, does not require a CVV number as a condition of making a donation.
In response, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) will introduce legislation to ensure political organizations receiving online contributions require a CVV number as a condition of donating.
- “Cracking down on credit card fraud and foreign political donations used to be a bipartisan idea. This is a common-sense reform that should pass by unanimous consent. If not, those in opposition should be forced to explain why they support allowing foreign money into U.S. elections.” — Senator Rubio
Looking ahead … Rubio will introduce the legislation in September. Earlier this month, he submitted an amendment to the Democrats’ $749 billion climate and tax bill that would have compelled ActBlue to require the CVV for all online donations. The amendment did not receive a vote.
