Rubio Urges Biden to Fully Support NASA’s Artemis Program
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a statement after the White House Press Secretary could not confirm whether the Biden Administration supports the continuation of the Artemis program. Last April, Rubio and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) wrote to then-NASA Administrator James Bridenstine “in support of the Artemis program,” noting the program “will help our space industry validate human safety protocols, learn to use the Moon’s vast resources, and undertake meaningful technology development and demonstration in support of the next giant leap to Mars.”
“I am shocked the Biden Administration refused to confirm the President’s support for the Artemis program,” Rubio said. “America won the 20th century because of our ability to innovate and prioritize. Pulling back from the Artemis program will set our nation back in the battle to win the 21st century. It will also destroy good American jobs and undermine our national security. I urge President Biden to give his unequivocal support for the Artemis program and America’s thriving commercial space program.”
