Senator Marco Rubio Announces Staff Changes
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today announced staff changes in his Senate office.
Cesar Conda, who has served as Rubio’s chief of staff since 2011, will join Rubio’s Reclaim America PAC as a senior advisor and remain a part-time advisor in the Senate office. Alberto Martinez, who has served as Rubio’s deputy chief of staff since 2013, will succeed Conda as chief of staff. Todd Reid, Rubio’s state director since 2011, will become deputy chief of staff.

BACKGROUND ON TODAY’S STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS
Cesar Conda: Conda has served as Rubio’s chief of staff in the Washington office since 2011. From 2001 to 2003, he was Assistant to the Vice President for Domestic Policy. Conda spent most of his professional career in the 1980s and 1990s as a senior staffer in the U.S. Senate, including Administrative Assistant and Legislative Director to former Senator Spencer Abraham (R-MI), where he led a Senate staff that assisted Abraham in authoring 22 pieces of legislation signed into law. He was also Minority Staff Director of the Senate Small Business Committee and Legislative Assistant to former Senator Robert Kasten (R-WI). Additionally, Conda was a policy advisor to the 1996 Dole-Kemp Presidential Campaign and Senior Economic Policy Advisor to the 2008 Mitt Romney for President Campaign. He was also an economic analyst at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Conda was a member of the Board of Directors of Empower America and the National Fatherhood Initiative. Before joining Senator Rubio’s staff, Conda was a Founding Principal of Navigators Global LLC, a public affairs firm. Conda was also Co-Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Susan. B. Anthony List.
Alberto Martinez: Martinez is a long serving adviser to Rubio who has most recently served as deputy chief of staff in his Washington office. Prior to that, he was a senior advisor to Rubio’s Reclaim America PAC and the Romney for President campaign. Previously, Martinez served as communications director for the Republican majority during Rubio’s term as speaker of the Florida House. In 2009, he stepped down as chief of staff to the majority whip in the Florida House to work as a senior adviser to Rubio’s Senate campaign. Prior to his work with Rubio, Martinez served as deputy speechwriter for Governor Jeb Bush and Florida communications director for President George W. Bush’s reelection campaign in 2004.
Todd Reid: Reid has served as Rubio’s state director since 2011. Reid previously served as deputy chief of staff to Florida House of Representatives Speaker Dean Cannon. Prior to that, for four years, he was director of the Florida House Majority Office where he managed floor activities and coordinated communications on behalf of the Florida House’s Republican majority. He has also served as communications director for the Florida House and with the Florida Department of Financial Services. Reid has also worked for the Office of the Governor of Virginia, the Republican Party of Virginia and as a regional director for the Republican National Committee.
